St Helens prop James Graham is desperate to finally win the Super League Grand Final in 2011, having tasted disappointment in each of the last three Old Trafford showpieces.
Saints, who are 6/5 with bookmaker to reach the Grand Final, take on Wigan this Saturday in the qualifying semi-final and Graham says that defeat to the Warriors is unthinkable.
“To make so many consecutive Grand Finals is huge but I’m not going to lie, I would have much rather come away with a few more winners’ medals. And hopefully I’ll get the chance to add one more this year,” said Graham, who will leave at the end of the season for NRL side Canterbury Bulldogs.
Saints managed a respectable third-place finish in Super League in 2011, despite being without several key players for long periods due to injury.
Graham added: “Yes, we have suffered badly with injuries at times this year but we’re not looking to use that as an excuse. The lads that have got their opportunities as a result have shown that they’re more than able deputies and have given (coach) Royce (Simmons) a real selection headache.”
