Carl Ablett says Leeds Rhinos have learnt the lessons of 2010’s Challenge Cup final defeat to Warrington, and believes they stand a great chance of upsetting Wigan next Saturday.
Ablett has promised that the Rhinos, who are 3/1 with bookmaker to lift the cup, are much better prepared for the Wembley showdown than they were when they faced a rampant Wolves outfit last year.
“All the games between us seem to be close and we have a great rivalry,” said Ablett. “There have been some real epic clashes between Wigan and Leeds over the years and I really hope this Saturday is similar, although I’d take a boring win over an exciting defeat.”
Wigan have fared slightly better in the two league meetings between the sides this season. The match at Headingley in April ended 22-22 but the Warriors edged the return fixture 26-24 at the DW Stadium last month.
