Coach Steve McNamara has confidence that his side can spring a shock against Australia in the Four Nations Final, with England 7/2 with bookmaker to take the title.
A 28-6 victory over New Zealand set up an Elland Road showdown with the Kangaroos on Saturday, with McNamara enthused by a fine display against the Kiwis.
He said: “I was pleased with everybody’s performance, but, in particular, I thought Ryan Hall, Sam Tomkins and Tom Briscoe were great.
“They performed well as a unit and if those three can fire next weekend then we have a great chance.”
Kiwis head coach Stephen Kearney also believes that England can shock Australia, who are 2/9 to come out on top, adding: “I think England can go into the game with some real confidence.
“It’s going to be a big ask, but if they stick to what they did tonight, I’m sure they’ll give Australia a real run for their money.”
