England prop James Graham insists he would swap any individual award for victory over Australia in the Four Nations final at Elland Road on Saturday.
Graham will be part of the England team who are 15/2 with bookmaker to defeat the Kangaroos by 1-5 points at the weekend. He has been nominated for the prestigious Golden Boot award, given to the world’s best player, with much emphasis placed on international performances.
The Saints player, who is leaving for the NRL after the end of the Four Nations tournament, is on a six-man shortlist but isn’t letting the nomination go to his head.
“It’s a real honour to receive a nomination for the Golden Boot, but all I’m worried about right now is winning the Four Nations with England. All the individual accolades in the world wouldn’t compare to beating the Aussies on Saturday,” he said.
“I don’t think I’ll win the award anyway. There are some really good players up for the award who I think have had better seasons than me. I’d be surprised if they pick me over somebody like Sam Tomkins or Darren Lockyer.”
