Leeds Rhinos ace Danny McGuire hopes to recover from a knee injury in time to help his side defend their Super League Grand Final crown.
McGuire has been sidelined for just over a month, but aims to make a quicker-than-expected return to help the Rhinos, who are 10/1 with bookmaker to retain their Super League crown.
“The last couple of weeks have been really frustrating. I don’t want my season to finish with an injury, so hopefully I can be involved in the play-offs,” McGuire said.
“The first diagnosis was six weeks, but if can get back in five that would be the first play-off game, so that’s the target.”
Leeds finish their regular season campaign at Huddersfield Giants on Sunday, with the Rhinos currently in fifth place in the table, the position from which they won the Grand Final last season.
