London Broncos head coach Rob Powell has demanded that the hectic Super League Easter programme be changed.
The Broncos, 50/1 with bookmaker to win the Challenge Cup this year, face Catalans Dragons at home on Thursday, before travelling to take on Leeds Rhinos, 9/1 to finish top of the regular season standings, on Easter Monday.
London then host Dewsbury Rams in the fourth round of the Challenge Cup the following weekend.
Powell said: “I think it’s too much for them physically. You have blokes in there who, in two days’ time, won’t be able to walk, train or do anything, and then we’re asking them to play again in five days. It’s a bit too much in my opinion.
“It’s too heavy a collision sport to put blokes out there consistently over and over again, and somewhere we have to give them a bit of time off, but it’s a difficult time of year and you hope you don’t pick any injuries up.”
