Hooker James Roby is expecting Wales to give England, 7/1 with bookmaker to win the Four Nations, a tough examination when the two teams meet in Leigh on Saturday.
The St Helens star said: “We came through the France match relatively unscathed and learnt a lot about ourselves. Wales will provide us with a big test though and we’re taking nothing for granted.”
Wales can be backed at 200/1 to win the tournament, which young England half-back Jonny Lomax will miss after picking up an ankle injury.
Roby regrets his absence, but is convinced that there will be plenty more opportunities for his Saints team-mate to make his mark on the international stage.
He added: “It’s a shame that Jonny’s had to sit this tournament out as he was fantastic for Saints towards the back end of the league season. I’m sure he’d have made a big difference for England but he’s still young and there are plenty of chances left for him.”
