Wigan Warriors winger Pat Richards is facing a race to be fit enough to feature in Friday’s Challenge Cup clash with Featherstone Rovers.
The Australian is understood to have suffered a slight muscle tear during Sunday’s victory at Hull FC and Warriors coach Shaun Wane says he won’t risk the player if there is any doubt over his fitness.
Wigan are 6/4 with bookmaker to finish at the top of the regular Super League season standings and 5/2 to win the Challenge Cup.
Wane said: “We’re hoping the injury to Pat isn’t too serious. I’m hopeful that it’s only a minor cartilage tear but, if there are any doubts over his fitness, then he won’t be risked against Featherstone Rovers. I can’t see it being a serious injury though.”
