Mike Tindall has been recalled by England in one of seven changes for Saturday’s game against Romania.
The centre was captain for the opening win over Argentina but was rested against Georgia and has come under scrutiny following reports of a night out with team-mates.
Tindall replaces Shontayne Hape in midfield and is joined by Mark Cueto and Jonny Wilkinson who are named in place of Delon Armitage and Toby Flood.
There are four changes in the pack with Steve Thompson, Alex Corbisiero, Louis Deacon and Tom Croft all starting. Courtney Lawes completes his suspension while Matt Stevens has an ankle problem.
Ben Foden has backed Tindall to silence his critics with his performances on the field.
“He’ll be keener than anyone to go out there on the weekend and show the critics he is here to win a World Cup and perform well for England,” said the Northampton player.
Martin Johnson’s side are now 7/2 with bookmaker to finish as runners-up in the tournament.
