England fly-half Toby Flood is expected to miss the start of the Six Nations after picking up a knee ligament injury during Leicester Tigers’ recent victory against Sale Sharks.
The 26-year-old looks set to be sidelined for six weeks, which will rule him out of England’s clash against Scotland on 4th February and possibly the Italy game a week later.
England are 11/4 with bookmaker to win the tournament, while Scotland can be backed at 18/1.
As Jonny Wilkinson confirmed his retirement from international rugby last month, Charlie Hodgson is the favourite to fill the fly-half role in Flood’s absence, although Owen Farrell and Freddie Burns could also come into contention.
