Stuart Lancaster hopes to lay the foundations for the 2015 World Cup after being named as England’s interim head coach.
The former England Saxons coach knows he is starting from a difficult position after England’s disastrous performance at the recent World Cup in New Zealand when their reputation was dragged through the mud under Martin Johnson.
Lancaster says he is ready to replace some of the England old guard with untried talent in next year’s Six Nations, a competition they are 5/2 with bookmaker to win.
Lancaster said after being appointed: “We have the talent clearly in this country. We want to finish the Six Nations in a strong position, with a strong foundation building to 2015.”
England are 13/2 to win the 2015 World Cup.
