Rugby Union – Moody forced to call it a day

Bath flanker and World Cup winner Lewis Moody has announced that he is retiring from rugby union with immediate effect.

The 33-year-old, who has won 71 caps for his country and spent most of his club career with Leicester Tigers, suffered a shoulder injury in December, the latest in a series of problems that have affected the former England captain.
He ended his international career last year after England, 13/5 with bookmaker to beat France in Paris this weekend and 25/1 to win the Six Nations title for a second successive year, crashed out of the World Cup in New Zealand.
Moody confirmed on Twitter: “Totally gutted I have had to take the decision to retire from all forms of rugby. I will truly miss it.
“I have been very privileged to have played in some incredible teams and with some phenomenal players.”
