Prop Matt Stevens has backed England, 1/7 with bookmaker, to ensure a World Cup quarter-final spot by defeating Scotland on Saturday.
The Saracens front-rower missed the victory against Romania after picking up an ankle sprain against Georgia a week earlier, but hopes to be back in action for the crunch showdown in Auckland.
Stevens is also confident that England have got what it takes to end Scotland’s campaign early, with Andy Robinson’s side 5/1 to spring a shock and retain hopes of a last-eight place.
“We’ve been working hard, everyone knows the pressure is on all teams at this stage of the tournament,” Stevens said.
“We’re looking forward to Scotland, we’ve done our homework and we know the challenge that’s in front of us.”
England will hope to top the group and set up a quarter-final clash with France, knowing that finishing second in Pool B will leave them facing a clash with hosts New Zealand.
