Chelsea head coach Andre Villas-Boas believes his side, 8/1 with bookmaker to win the Premier League, are right back in the title race after a 2-1 home win over leaders Manchester City.
The Blues are now seven points behind City as a result of their Stamford Bridge triumph, with the visitors having seen their unbeaten start to the league season come to an abrupt end.
“Our objective was to shorten the distance to the leaders and we managed to do exactly that,” Villas-Boas told Sky Sports.
“We needed to do our job to get our challenge back on track and I think it’s pretty much alive now.
“It has been a good week and seven points behind in this league with so many teams competing for the title is nothing.”
City are now a mere two points ahead of deadly rivals Manchester United at the top of the table, with Chelsea and Spurs a further five points back, although the latter still have a game in hand on their rivals.
