Vincent Kompany and Thomas Vermaelen are struggling to be fit for Belgium’s friendly clash with England at Wembley.
Manager Marc Wilmots will be able to call on the likes of Everton’s Marouane Fellaini and Fulham playmaker Moussa Dembele, but could be forced to field an inexperienced central defensive pairing if Kompany and Vermaelen are ruled out.
Belgium are 6/1 with bookmaker to win at Wembley, while England can be backed at 1/2 to secure victory in their final warm-up match before Euro 2012.
Kompany is struggling with a recurrence of the calf strain that forced him to miss most of March. It is understood he picked up the niggle on the final day of the season when Manchester City beat Queens Park Rangers 3-2.
Arsenal’s Vermaelen is struggling with inflammation to a tendon and both defenders will be given until the final Friday training session before a decision is made on whether they can play at Wembley.
