Darren Bent is hoping to play for England against Spain at Wembley on Saturday, a match Fabio Capello’s side are 14/1 with bookmaker to win 2-1.
The Aston Villa striker is keen to play well and improve his chances of playing at Euro 2012 next summer, a tournament which England are 10/1 to win.
“Every time you play for your country it’s like you’re on trial, to be honest,” said Bent. “If I get selected, hopefully I’ll do myself justice and hang onto the shirt.”
However, Bent faces competition for a place in the England squad from the likes of Gabriel Agbonlahor, Danny Welbeck, Bobby Zamora and Daniel Sturridge.
