England boss Fabio Capello blamed pressure for his side’s poor performance in a narrow 1-0 home win over Wales.
An Ashley Young goal moved England, 8/1 with bookmaker to win Euro 2012, a step closer to qualifying for next year’s finals, but they rarely impressed at Wembley and came close to conceding an equaliser.
“I think here we lose the confidence,” Capello said. “But I am happy for the result, it was the most important thing.
“There was the pressure of the result, when you play without the pressure it is different. You can do something with a free mind, you play well.”
England need a draw in Montenegro in their final qualifier to ensure that they finish top of Group G and avoid the play-offs for Euro 2012. England are 1/50 to secure top spot.
