Kenny Dalglish has been given a vote of confidence by the Liverpool board after director of football Damien Comolli left Anfield.
Reds chairman Tom Werner has told Dalglish, who is preparing for Saturday’s FA Cup semi-final against Everton, that he has the full support of the board.
Liverpool are 17/2 with bookmaker to win the match against their Merseyside rivals 2-1, with Andy Carroll 7/1 to open the scoring.
Werner told the club’s official website: “We’ve got great confidence in Kenny. We feel the team is going to make strides in the future and he enjoys our full support.
“We’ve had a strategy that we have agreed on. There was some disconnect on the implementation of that.”
Liverpool beat Cardiff City in February to claim the Carling Cup but have slipped to eighth in the table after a mediocre Premier League campaign.
