Kenny Dalglish believes his Liverpool side will take confidence from the 3-2 victory at Blackburn Rovers and can now go on and beat Everton in Saturday’s FA Cup semi-final.
The Reds, who had goalkeeper Alex Doni sent off in the first half at Ewood Park, needed a stoppage-time goal from Andy Carroll to seal the three points after earlier squandering a two-goal lead.
Both Doni and regular first-choice keeper Jose Reina will now miss the Wembley clash with the Toffees due to suspension, with Brad Jones set to start after coming on and saving a penalty at Blackburn.
Dalglish thinks morale will have been raised by the victory, saying: “It doesn’t mean to say we have turned any corners, but it gives everyone a lift. The victory will do everyone the world of good.”
Liverpool are 4/5 with bookmaker to reach the FA Cup final and 16/5 to win the trophy for the eighth time in their history.
