Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson will give David De Gea the chance to shine in this weekend’s Premier League clash against Wigan Athletic.
The Spanish shot-stopper played in the opening game defeat to Everton, but was dropped after making a series of errors in the 3-2 home victory over Fulham.
Anders Lindegaard was given the opportunity to impress at Southampton but failed to do so in the 3-2 win and Ferguson has decided to hand a starting spot to De Gea for the Wigan match.
Goalkeeping coach Eric Steele warned: “If you come to a club the size of United, you expect exposure. When goalkeepers do it wrong nobody forgets, when they do it right, nobody remembers. They are there to be shot at.”
United are 1/1 with bookmaker to keep a clean sheet against the Latics and are 2/1 to win this season’s Premier League title.
