Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson, whose side are now 1/7 with bookmaker to retain their title, is wary of thinking that the race for the Premier League crown is all but over.
The Red Devils moved five points clear of rivals Manchester City with a 2-0 Monday night victory at Blackburn Rovers and could be a further three in the lead before the Citizens take to the field against Arsenal next Sunday.
However, Ferguson, who has already guided United to 12 league titles during his illustrious career, warned: “There could be a shock around the corner – you never know.
“We have done particularly well in the last few weeks in terms of getting into the position we are in now. It is just a case of keeping our nerve and continuing to play our game.”
United’s next game sees them play host to Queens Park Rangers next Sunday, while they will hope to remain more than three points clear of City ahead of the game between the two sides at the Etihad Stadium at the end of this month.
