Steven Gerrard believes Liverpool can go on and win more silverware after the Reds ended a six-year trophy drought by beating Cardiff City in the Carling Cup final.
The Liverpool captain missed a penalty in the Wembley shoot-out after the Championship side had hit back to draw 2-2 after extra-time, but Bluebirds substitute Anthony Gerrard’s spot-kick miss proved decisive in the final analysis.
It was a record eighth League Cup triumph for Liverpool and Kenny Dalglish’s men are 12/5 with bookmaker to go on and win the FA Cup this season and 7/2 to finish in the top four of the Premier League.
“The important thing now is to enjoy this cup final and then we need to build on it,” admitted England international Gerrard. “It would be stupid if we accept just this. We need more, we want more.”
