Goalkeeper Shay Given has called on his Aston Villa side to move themselves closer to safety by winning at home to Bolton Wanderers on Tuesday evening.
Villa are five points clear of the drop zone going into the game but a Bolton victory, 3/1 with bookmaker, could reduce that cushion to three points with just three games to play for the Midlanders.
A clearly concerned Given said: “The thing for Villa is we can’t rely on other people, we have to do the job ourselves.
“Ideally we want to win, but it is easy enough saying we want to win. We have to go out on the pitch and do the business.”
Gabriel Agbonlahor (shoulder) and James Collins (groin) are both serious doubts for Villa after being injured in the goalless draw with Sunderland at the weekend.
The Trotters have problems of their own, with midfield pair Darren Pratley and Mark Davies both set to miss out, with teenager Josh Vela poised to make his full debut.
