QPR manager Mark Hughes looks set to snap up both Michael Dawson and Ricardo Carvalho in a bid to improve his side’s defensive solidity.
Hughes has agreed to pay an initial transfer fee of £7.5million for 28-year-old Tottenham defender Dawson, who has opted to leave White Hart Lane after being told by manager Andre Villas-Boas that he would only be the third-choice central defender at Spurs this season.
Hughes, who is desperate to bolster his defence in the wake of Saturday’s disastrous 5-0 home defeat to Swansea City, is also hoping to land Real Madrid’s Carvalho on a season-long loan arrangement.
The home loss to Swansea leaves QPR 10/3 with bookmaker to be relegated this term while Spurs are currently 11/5 to finish in the top four of the Premier League.
