New QPR boss Mark Hughes is hoping to use the 1-0 FA Cup win over MK Dons as a platform for his side to move away from the Premier League relegation zone.
The R’s are without a win in their last nine league games and are 6/4 with bookmaker to be relegated back to The Championship ahead of a crunch clash with fellow strugglers Wigan Athletic at Loftus Road.
“It was important to get that first win,” Hughes told his new club’s official website. “Given the fact that we hadn’t been able to get a win on the board for a number of weeks, it was important we got a result.
“I’m sure we’ll build on that performance going forward.”
Rangers are currently level on points with fourth-bottom Blackburn Rovers going into the weekend action, with Wigan two points worse off than QPR as they prop up the table.
