Steve Kean is concerned that injuries to key players could derail his Blackburn side’s hopes of avoiding relegation this season.
Rovers, who are 8/11 with bookmaker to finish in the bottom three, lost Michel Salgado, Martin Olsson and Jason Lowe to injuries during Sunday’s heartbreaking 2-1 defeat at Sunderland, who are 5/1 to be relegated.
Salgado has suspected fractured ribs and Olsson a hamstring injury, while Lowe was stretchered off with concussion in stoppage time at the Stadium of Light after being accidentally elbowed in the face by Sebastian Larsson, the scorer of Sunderland’s winning goal.
Kean said: “We were putting centre-backs on as full-backs. We were moving people around.
“Salgado took a nasty bang, I think he has broken a rib, and Jason Lowe is concussed and will have to be assessed.”
