Blackburn Rovers manager Steve Kean is adamant that his side has enough quality to avoid relegation this season.
Kean has been criticised for fielding a weakened side on Tuesday as Rovers slumped to a 2-0 defeat at Cardiff City in the quarter-finals of the Carling Cup.
Christopher Samba, Martin Olsson and Michel Salgado were all rested so that they will be fresh enough to feature against Swansea City at Ewood Park this weekend, in a league game Blackburn are 11/10 with bookmaker to win.
Kean said of his rested players: “They could have played at a push and if we’d been in a slightly different position in the league.
“Saturday has to kick-start our season. We’re in a position where we’ve forfeited going through in this competition and having the chance to reach a cup final.”
Blackburn can be backed at 4/6 to suffer relegation this season.
