Wigan Athletic boss Roberto Martinez has told his players to stay focused after a shock 2-1 win at Arsenal moved the Latics five points clear of the relegation zone.
Martinez’s men, now 6/1 with bookmaker to go down, have hit form at just the right time, winning four of their last five Premier League games, a feat made all the more impressive as three of the victories have come against Liverpool, Manchester United and the Gunners.
However, a cautious Martinez warned: “We can’t really enjoy it, because moments like this will mean nothing if we don’t get enough points to stay up.”
Next up for the Latics is a trip to Craven Cottage to take on Fulham, a game which many will now see as highly winnable for in-form Wigan.
History is against the Latics though, with Wigan having lost on their previous three trips to Fulham, while the meeting of the two sides at the DW Stadium earlier this season ended 2-0 to the visitors, with Clint Dempsey and Moussa Dembele on the scoresheet.
