Aston Villa boss Alex McLeish, whose side are 5/1 with bookmaker to go down, accepts that his side are right in the relegation dogfight after a 2-1 defeat at home to Bolton Wanderers.
McLeish’s side have failed to register a victory in their last seven Premier League games and are now only three points clear of the bottom three with three games to play.
McLeish said after a potentially crucial setback: “To see the game turn around like that after we took a deserved lead was horrible.
“We had three points in our grasp, but we then lost the game. We are in a relegation fight and obviously they (the fans) are not happy.”
Villa’s remaining three fixtures see them start with a visit to West Brom for a derby on Saturday, before the arrival of Spurs at Villa Park eight days later.
A trip to Carrow Road to take on Norwich City could yet prove to be a decisive final-day encounter for the Villains.
