Wayne Rooney insists he sees his future at Manchester United and has no qualms about the club bringing Robin van Persie to Old Trafford.
The former Everton striker is currently out of action after picking up a nasty gash to his thigh in the closing stages of United’s 3-2 win over Fulham a fortnight ago.
It has been suggested that Sir Alex Ferguson is looking to offload Rooney but the England international says he has every intention of remaining a key part of United’s squad.
He said: “Van Persie has been great for us. It was a great hat-trick he scored at Southampton. We have so many forwards now.
“I think that competition is great for us all. We are all fighting to get into the team and score goals. It is great for the manager and we all have to make sure we give the manager the headache he wants in one way but doesn’t in another.”
United are 15/8 with bookmaker to finish at the top of the Premier League table this season while they are 15/2 to win the Champions League.
