Striker Robin van Persie is determined to try and help new club Manchester United challenge for trophies after leaving Arsenal in a £24million deal.
The 29-year-old Dutchman netted 30 Premier League goals for the Gunners last season and is 8/1 with bookmaker to be the leading scorer in the top-flight in 2012/13.
Van Persie told his new club’s official website: “I am looking forward to…bringing my experience and playing my part to help the team compete for the biggest trophies in the game.”
The striker has signed in time to feature for United in their Premier League opener at Everton on Monday evening, with Red Devils boss Sir Alex Ferguson hinting that Van Persie would start at Goodison Park.
Ferguson also has Wayne Rooney, Danny Welbeck and Javier Hernandez among a wealth of strike options at his disposal, while Dimitar Berbatov also remains with the club for the time being.
