Chris Smalling, 28/1 with bookmaker to score the opening goal on Sunday, believes the Manchester derby is a bigger game than last weekend’s meeting between United and Liverpool.
The former Fulham defender claims Manchester City, 21/10 to win the Premier League title this season, pose a bigger threat than Liverpool to Sir Alex Ferguson’s team.
United currently sit in second place, two points behind table-toppers City, and Smalling is expecting a tough encounter against Roberto Mancini’s men.
The England starlet said: “I remember the build-up to my first derby when I arrived and it was immense so I cannot begin to think what the next few days will be like.
“The rivalry with Liverpool has been the main one for a lot of the lads for many years who have been at the club a long time but City have been creeping up and now you just get wrapped up in it all.
“It is the one game I want to win more than any other. I think this is the biggest game and biggest derby we face now. I think City are an even bigger threat this year than last.”
