Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has backed either Barcelona, 15/8 with bookmaker, or Real Madrid (9/2) to win the Champions League this season.
Wenger believes that the Spanish giants are some way ahead of all the other hopefuls, including the likes of Chelsea and last season’s beaten finalists, Manchester United, who are 13/2.
The Frenchman commented: “Two teams are above the rest this season, Real Madrid and Barcelona. The rest have to catch up during the season.”
Meanwhile, Wenger has played down Manchester City’s chances of winning Europe’s premier club competition at the first time of asking, adding: “It’s a bit early to compare Manchester City with Barca.
“That does not take any credit away from Man City, but Barca’s players have won the World Cup and the team has won two Champions Leagues in the last three seasons. I think it’s too early for City.”
