Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson says that his side’s trip to Spurs this Sunday is a crucial match in their bid to overhaul Manchester City in the title race.
The Red Devils are 6/4 with bookmaker to retain their Premier League crown this season, with Ferguson hoping to maintain the pressure on their Manchester rivals right up until a potentially crucial showdown at the Etihad Stadium at the end of April.
“Playing Tottenham is always a tremendous highlight of the season,” Ferguson said ahead of Sunday’s White Hart Lane encounter.
“It is a very important game for us because if you look at the rest of the season, in the build-up to the second game against Manchester City, it is our hardest away game, there is no doubt about that.”
United head to north London boosted by the knowledge that they have not lost in the league at White Hart Lane since May 2001, when they were beaten 3-1.
