Manchester United will be without Darren Fletcher for an unspecified time after the Scotland international midfielder was told to take an extended break from the game due to ongoing health problems.
The 27-year-old has been struggling for fitness for some time and could miss the rest of the campaign.
Sir Alex Ferguson’s team, who are currently only two points behind Manchester City and are 2/1 with bookmaker to retain their Premier League title this season, have struggled for midfield creativity this term.
However, Fletcher will now focus on trying to make a full recovery from a bowel condition and is unlikely to play much part in United’s attempt to win the FA Cup, which they are 8/1 to do.
