Silesian Stadium in Chorzow is the largest existing sports stadium in Poland. From 1993 it functions as the national stadium for Polish football representation. The stadium is a part of Regional Centre of Culture and Sport in Chorzow, located near the border of Chorzow and Katowice. Last week UEFA, the governing soccer body in Europe, finally announced the four Polish cities that will host Euro 2012 championship games. Of the six candidate cities named two years ago, Warsaw, Poznań, Wrocław and Gdańsk were chosen. The 2012 European Soccer Championship will be held in five Poland and five Ukrainian cities, Polish newspaper Gazeta Wyborcza reported on Thursday. Claiming that such a decision will be made public by UEFA next Wednesday, the daily said that among Poland’s lucky cities will be Warsaw, Gdansk, Wroclaw, Poznan and Cracow.
