The foundations for the stadium on which the matches of European Championships will take place in 2012 were laid on Tuesday in Lwow. This is the second stage of building the stadium. The first one, preparing the terrain for construction, lasted from the beginning of last December. – Laying the foundations should have taken place on 20th January and we succeeded. I would like to emphasize that the works are held nonstop – said the mayor of Lwow Andrij Sadowy, quoted by local web portals.

41 737 spectators will be able to watch the matches on the new stadium which is being built in Wroclaw Maslice. During Euro 2012 three group matches are going to be organized in Wroclaw. The president of the Union of European Football Associations (UEFA) Michel Platini warned again Poland and Ukraine on Wednesday that should one of these two countries not build a stadium in its capital, both will lose the right to organize the Europe championships in 2012. Amid fears the Euro 2012 finals were in jeopardy, UEFA has granted tentative approval for Poland and Ukraine to maintain hosting rights for what is one of world soccer’s most important events. Despite the backing, UEFA warned the joint hosts to speed up their preparations, insisting the hosting deal could still be annulled, sources from European soccer’s governing body said Friday. Poland and Ukraine were given the reprieve after UEFA’s executive committee met in Bordeaux to discuss a progress report on preparations for the tournament.
