World number one Novak Djokovic is hoping to take his place in history by winning the French Open.
The 23-year-old Serb, who is 5/2 with bookmaker to win the Roland Garros tournament for the first time in his career, enjoyed a sensational 2011, claiming victories at the Australian Open, Wimbledon and US Open championships.
He retained the Australian Open title in Melbourne earlier this year and will become the first man since Rod Laver in 1969 to hold all of the Grand Slam titles at once if he can win in Paris.
“This is an opportunity that very few tennis players have in their lives,” said Djokovic. “I’m aware of that, but I accept it as a challenge.”
If Djokovic is to achieve the landmark, he will most probably have to overcome defending champion Rafael Nadal, who is 8/13 to clinch a record seventh title.
