Novak Djokovic has said in the build-up to his US Open final against Andy Murray that the match could easily go either way.
Defending champion Djokovic set up a final against Murray with a 2-6 6-1 6-4 6-2 semi-final victory against Spain’s David Ferrer and he is 2/5 with bookmaker to emerge victorious in what will be his fourth US Open final.
Djokovic thrashed Murray, 2/1 to break his Grand Slam duck in his fifth Major final, in last year’s Australian Open final but thinks the Scot has improved his game since then.
The Serb said: “I don’t think there is any clear favourite. He’s looking for his first title, I’m sure he’s going to be very motivated. I hope we can come up with the best tennis for this crowd.”
If Djokovic can beat Murray, he will become the first man to retain the US Open title since Roger Federer in 2008.
