Roger Federer showed that he is in fine form just a week before the start of the US Open by thrashing Novak Djokovic in straight sets to win the Cincinnati Open.
Federer will be keen to add a sixth US Open title to his Grand Slam haul when the tournament gets underway on 27th August, less than two months after the Swiss star beat Andy Murray in the Wimbledon final.
Federer, who is 5/2 with bookmaker to win the US Open, eased past Djokovic 6-0 7-6 to secure the Cincinnati crown for a fifth time.
“It’s been an amazing week and a magical summer and I’m looking forward to New York now,” said Federer, who has won six ATP tournaments this year.
