Andy Murray will meet Rafael Nadal in the last four of the Miami Masters after seeing off Janko Tipsarevic in a tough quarter-final tie.
The British number one, who is 5/4 with bookmaker to defeat Nadal, needed treatment for a stomach upset against Tipsarevic but eventually came through 4-6 6-3 6-4 in two hours and 39 minutes.
Nadal also needed three sets in his last-eight clash with Jo-Wilfried Tsonga and Murray is hoping Miami’s hard courts will aid him against the Spaniard.
“I think hard courts are the best surfaces to play him on,” said the Scot.
“It will be incredibly challenging – he is one of the toughest guys to have played the game. But on this surface, I feel I can use my game to make him doubt himself a little bit.”
