Andy Murray, 5/1 with bookmaker to win the title, is hoping to improve as the tournament goes on after winning his first round match at the Australian Open.
Murray needed four sets to subdue American teenager Ryan Harrison, with the world number four making a slow start before impressing in the latter stages.
He said after a solid display: “I’ll need to make sure in my next match that I play closer to the baseline.
“You want to play your best tennis towards the end of the tournament, so that’s what I’ll try and do.”
Next up for Murray is France’s Edouard Roger-Vasselin, currently ranked down at 101, with the two men never having met before.
Roger-Vasselin has never been beyond the third round of a Grand Slam, having reached round three at both the French Open and Wimbledon in 2007.
